Rosie's Heroes is developing a scalable, data-backed sterilization and vaccination program in high-rabies countries, starting in India. The vision is simple but ambitious: drive sustained 70%+ coverage in targeted districts until rabies transmission collapses entirely.

Phase 1: Target Identification

Map high-burden districts. Establish local partnerships and define coverage baselines.

Phase 2: High-Volume Operations

Deploy mobile sterilization and vaccination units. Track sterilization progress. Build community awareness and support networks.

Phase 3: Coverage Monitoring

Maintain and verify 70%+ coverage rates. Identify and address gaps.

Phase 4: Transmission Collapse

Sustained coverage drives rabies transmission to zero in targeted districts. Replicate to additional high-burden zones and countries.

Bangalore: Direct Intervention & Public Safety

In Bangalore, a bustling tech hub, our focus is on high-volume spay/neuter campaigns coupled with the distribution of reflective collars. This strategy directly addresses the city's dense stray dog population while enhancing night-time visibility for both dogs and humans.

  • Prioritizing areas with high reported human-dog conflict.

  • Piloting community education initiatives around safe coexistence.

  • Data collection on impact of reflective collars on road accidents.

Hyderabad: Sustainable Solutions & Adoptions

Hyderabad serves as our laboratory for exploring long-term sustainability, integrating spay/neuter programs with international adoption partnerships. This site demonstrates how removing dogs from the local population can create capacity for other welfare initiatives.

  • Developing protocols for ethical international adoption logistics.

  • Collaborating with local shelters and rescue organizations.

  • Assessing the cost-effectiveness of adoption pathways versus local rehoming.

Chennai: Integrated Welfare & Community Engagement

Our Chennai site tackles the complex interplay of stray dog welfare and community needs. Alongside spay/neuter, we're implementing controlled feeding programs to improve dog health, reduce foraging, and foster positive human-animal interactions.

  • Studying the impact of managed feeding on dog health and aggression.

  • Engaging local volunteers for feeding and monitoring activities.

  • Measuring the reduction in nuisance complaints and bite incidents in treated areas.
